DfE Readiness for Opening Meeting 12 July 2012

I wanted to keep you up-to-date with all the exciting events which have taken place here at Hackney UTC over the last few months.

Almost all student places are now filled, and I am pleased to say we have equal numbers of girls and boys. With only a handful of places left if you or your friends are interested in joining HUTC in September contact Samantha on 020 7316 9401 for an application form or apply online.

We held our first-ever Parents Open Evening in a marquee next to our new building on July 3rd. For a report and photographs see the Latest News section of the website.

Hackney UTC had two big milestones last week and I am pleased to say we passed both with flying colours. On Tuesday 10th July we had our pre-opening Ofsted Inspection. One of Her Majesty’s Inspectors checked all aspects of the school, including our policies, the building, and our health & safety procedures. He reported that all requirements were either already in place or were on track to be in place in time for the first day of term. He was very impressed that all our main policies are already available on our website, so please feel free to take a look.
Then on Thursday 12th July we had our official Readiness for Opening meeting with the Department for Education. The Department scrutinised every aspect of our planning, including curriculum, leadership and management, and finances. They congratulated us on our “excellent progress” and gave us the green light for opening, so it’s all systems go!

We now have all our teachers and support staff in place. I am confident that the high calibre of the team will provide a first-class education. See our Staff section of the website for details.

After all the positive feedback, I for one cannot wait to open and I hope you will share my sense of excitement.
